The press launch for the Adolescent HIV/AIDS Prevention Maze was a success and brought to the forefront the need to have this project into the lives of the targeted group.

The Minister of Health
in his speech said:
"Adolescent development requires partnership among the stake
holders, youth, family, service providers and communities and we as government
cannot do it alone, it is therefore with a great deal of thanks that I say to HOPE
worldwide Jamaica that this initiative is most welcome indeed. Your
recognition of HIV/AIDS as an area for attention and action is not just
foresight it is an absolute necessity.
I appeal to our
young people to take advantage of the opportunity being provided by this
Prevention Maze to learn more about HIV/STD's and I also want to add my word of
advise to them to abstain from sexual relations until they have fully developed
both mentally and physically where their choice is informed where they can make
their choice on the basis of full knowledge of the consequences of their acts.
Again my congratulations and full
support of the Ministry of Health for this project."
The
Minister of Education in his speech said:
"Where education is involved it has to be a serious partnership. This
partnership it seems to me is a partnership for progress but fundamentally a
partnership for life. I believe that this Maze is the kind of
intervention which will engage them, stimulate them, amuse then perhaps but in
fact
having the net effect of getting them involved seriously in making decisions
about their life. Once again thank you very much and I do wish the
program every success and you know that
you have the full support of the
Ministry of Education and Culture." Abijha gave a thrilling performance
with his song "One Love" in keeping with the theme "One Love.
Long Life"
In addition Sprint presented HOPE worldwide Jamaica with a
donation of U$7,000 as their contribution to Corporate sponsorship for the
Adolescent
HIV/AIDS Prevention Maze.
