[MONA Re-Hab] [N.C.H.] [WALKERS] [HOME] [HOPE Jamaica] [HOPE MAZE] [FACES WE SERVE] [TAG DRIVE]
The National Children's Home was the first project HOPE Jamaica took on just over six years ago and from that one project have moved to seven different projects across the island.
Stephen and Althea Spence were the first couple who had the privilege to pilot this project. Presently the coordinators for this project are Vernon and Sherril Thompson who have being doing a phenomenal job bringing out the best in the children at the home. Their great ideas, enthusiasm and love has really transformed the hearts of the children. Their servant like hearts have not only affected the hearts of the children but have inspired the disciples of the Big East Region to take their service to God to even a higher level.

In 1996 Drs Peter and Sandra Swaby saw the need to have disciples in the lives of the children at The Sir John Golding Rehabilitation Center affectionately called Mona Re-Hab. The children at this home age ranges from 6 years to 18 years but their needs are all the same and that is sincere love, the type of love Jesus showed us by going to the cross.
The children at Mon Re-hab are all physically challenged and a small percentage of the group is also mentally challenged. Stephen & Althea Spence (Western Region) leads the overall coordinating of programs for this center . Donovan and Calae Henry from the Campus Region and Sean Murry and Dionne Davis from the Radicals Region are the coordinators for their respective regions.

The Walkers Place of Safety is located in Kingston off Maxfield Avenue. It houses over 50 children between the toddlers age thought to mid teens. The Southland Region has been visiting there for over 6 years and twice monthly the volunteers spend time stimulating and interacting with the children through songs, games and conversation. Dolkeith and Monica Harriot who coordinates the program for this home have helped the members over the years to develop a bond with the children and do hope that this special relationship will continue. Our prayer for the children at Walkers is that they will acquire a new location which will be more conducive to their continued development.
